Gaynor’s science department is dedicated to fostering students’ interests in the sciences from an early age, and to preparing students for future academic work in science.

After recently crossing the 100 day of school mark for the 2017-2018 academic year, it is important to realize that graduation is around the corner. Our placement office has helpful tips for future graduates to help them navigate the world post-Gaynor.

On March 6, Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers was transformed for Gaynor Gala 2018. The theme, “A Time to Shine,” highlighted the importance of, and Stephen Gaynor School’s commitment to, the performing arts.

One of Gaynor’s core tenets is an individualized curriculum for each student. But did you know this means material can be differentiated down to a single question? Find out how different teachers approach this process and why it pays off when it comes to unlocking each child’s potential.

The intentional design of the Early Childhood (EC) facility teaches the youngest Gaynor students how to calmly, safely, and thoughtfully make the transition from home to school.

Dr. Ali Michael, Director of the Race Institute for K-12 Educators, spoke to the Gaynor community for a discussion titled, “Building Healthy Multiracial Communities: What Do White Children Need to Know About Race?” The talk was sponsored by the Parents’ Association Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Performing arts is an integral part of Gaynor’s mission to unlock each child’s potential. In addition to the ways performing arts are integrated into the curriculum, there are often opportunities for student exposure to speakers and performances. On one recent day, dancers and singers from Ballet Hispanico, as well as Broadway actor Nathan Peck visited Gaynor to share some of their knowledge and talent.

Stephen Gaynor School’s Early Childhood program is a unique and innovative model. We have created a video that highlights our Early Childhood program and provides parents and educators with insight on how they might recognize learning differences in preschool children.

At Stephen Gaynor School, diversity and inclusion is deeply important to our community and mission. Thanks to the recently launched five-year strategic plan, diversity and inclusion efforts will continue to be expanded and implemented. The first changes include updates to our website as well as a new identity for the Community Values Committee (CVC).
